Ecosystem Level Predictors of Student Flourishing in Diverse Student Populations

Overview

Within the current educational landscape, traditional accountability metrics, including GPA, attendance, and standardized testing scores, have long been established as primary indicators of student success. However, while advocating for a more comprehensive assessment of student performance, the recent push for data-informed change often overlooks the nuanced nature of what these data truly capture, resulting in a tendency to value only what is easily measured.


This study explores how 8 research-grounded human flourishing design principles predict over 1,800 diverse students' well-being, academic attitudes and academic outcomes, providing a foundation for a more equitable and inclusive educational assessment and accountability system.

The K12 Research for Equity Hub is a multi-year actionable research initiative generating evidence to advance policy dialogue on K12 education accountability and assessment systems. This project is funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the Walton Family Foundation and managed by EduDream, a Latina-founded, woman-owned research consulting firm inspiring transformation within education by bringing community voice and rigorous research together.
